This project included a feasibility study and schematic design for a 3,000 square-foot addition to an existing two-story concrete masonry unit building. The goal was to provide an addition that expands the school while creating a more fluid connection to the rear playground.  The design is sensitive to the existing building’s scale and modesty, and imagines an addition that acts as a complimentary, contemporary sibling. The plan establishes the kitchen and a “playful stair” as the central hub of the school located at the juncture of old and new.
